I made it for my sister in law, and i love how it looks, plus it was very simple and these simple instructions from <a href="http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/03/womens-skirt-with-yoga-style-waist-band.html">make it -love it</a> were so clear and elaborate. </span></div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-size: large;">First you need a 1.5 yard cloth. Cut around 13 inches wide strip. the length of the strip should be the length of our waist minus a few inches. pin it and check. it should be snug. Also you may want a wider waist yoga thingie , but i liked 13 inches. remember to sew it on the ends to make it a double layered waist band. </span></div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #a64d79; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ahKo8kMLk1A/TnuPtNWWGuI/AAAAAAAAAC8/hMMzjr4nfVQ/s1600/2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ahKo8kMLk1A/TnuPtNWWGuI/AAAAAAAAAC8/hMMzjr4nfVQ/s400/2.JPG" width="300" /></a></span></div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><br />
</div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-size: large;">Using the rest of the cloth cut two triangles off the side to make a skirt like shape, to make it simple just place a skirt you already have on top of the skirt and cut out an A line shape. Pin it and Sew it. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #a64d79; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yUOLtCAn6to/TnuPvIrL7oI/AAAAAAAAADA/4DYRZ1ScsLY/s1600/3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yUOLtCAn6to/TnuPvIrL7oI/AAAAAAAAADA/4DYRZ1ScsLY/s400/3.JPG" width="300" /></a></span></div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-size: large;"> Sew the band to the skirt. I dislike gathering because it makes my backside look big so i kept it straight.... i think it looks sleeker and better! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">i still have to hem the bottom but im not sure you have to it looks pretty clean as it is... and voila a pretty little comfi skirt...</span></div><div style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #a64d79; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3dC_liqwbWU/TnuPw4XSiOI/AAAAAAAAADE/xaodDVKouY8/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3dC_liqwbWU/TnuPw4XSiOI/AAAAAAAAADE/xaodDVKouY8/s400/photo.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>FashionablyHijabeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04678606130135403220noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902831463371615696.post-26464965184930015122011-09-22T12:28:00.000-07:002011-09-22T12:29:01.907-07:00how to make your own abaya!!<div style="color: #674ea7;"><span style="font-size: large;">ok so i've inherited lots of sari material that im not gonna wear as a sari so i thought it might be fun to make a jilbaab /kaftan out of them, so i stumbled across this tutorial and thought to share....</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://0.gvt0.com/vi/r_MoZ2XaI7w/0.jpg" height="266" width="320"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_MoZ2XaI7w&fs=1&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_MoZ2XaI7w&fs=1&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object></div>FashionablyHijabeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04678606130135403220noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902831463371615696.post-21073180268503783212011-09-22T12:22:00.000-07:002011-09-22T12:22:17.700-07:00sweet and sour chicken sorted inspiration!!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/XKIAGjqz51A?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><span style="color: #45818e; font-size: large;">you guys need to try out this recipe its really good!!!! </span>FashionablyHijabeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04678606130135403220noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902831463371615696.post-5344900761712044632011-09-12T09:37:00.000-07:002011-09-12T09:37:35.983-07:00cupcakes!!!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="color: #993366; font-family: 'Tempus Sans ITC'; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: large;">-give something packaged and sealed than baked.</span></span><br />

</div><div style="color: #76a5af;"><span style="font-size: large;">I hate pinning under the chin because it leaves marks ( i pin tightly ) and It makes my chin look fat ( yes i'm superficial :-D ) So when I came across "The Shea Scarf" i had to try it. </span></div><div style="color: #76a5af;"><br />
</div><span style="color: #76a5af; font-size: large;">Shea from <a href="http://www.myamethyst-shea.com/2011/08/how-i-wear-my-scarf-tutorial.html">My Amethyst</a> put up her hijab tutorial and I wore it with a long pashmina and OMG, it was light, flowy stayed in place, no mishaps and I loved how I felt in it. It just gives you flare. Here she is with her style. Go check out her how to <a href="http://www.myamethyst-shea.com/2011/08/how-i-wear-my-scarf-tutorial.html">Shea Scarf </a>video. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxWN-Tw8irY/Tj7WUVIBDhI/AAAAAAAAEz8/uyJoJSS353I/s1600/aug6g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxWN-Tw8irY/Tj7WUVIBDhI/AAAAAAAAEz8/uyJoJSS353I/s320/aug6g.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
<div style="color: #76a5af;"><span style="font-size: large;">The other one is the Turban scarf, this is more trendy/ for special occasions weddings formal events etc. I haven't tried this one but ill update u guys when i do. Its a bold statement kinda scarf. Plus i gotta figure out the neck coverage. So here's Suchi's tutorial and the<a href="http://www.suchbysuchi.com/2011/08/such-hijab-tutorial-turban-style.html"> link to her website. </a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #76a5af; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/I4ISvvI6C40?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>. <br />

</a> </span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">I made the the shoulders a bit wide cause I wanted that full coverage aspect but honestly you can make it as large as you want.</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here's how I made it: </span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">you will need two measurements:</span></div><ul style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><li><span style="font-size: large;">from the top of your neck to the bottom.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">from the end of your neck to the end of your shoulder.</span></li>
</ul><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">if you don't have tape etc to measure:</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">just use an old t-shirt or turtleneck to measure out your cloth.</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">So I used half a yard cloth, it works with stretchy cloth cause the turtle neck stays up else it kinda collapses. </span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Step 1: Fold the cloth in half, and draw out a small neck line (red line). Cut out the bottom equal tot he measurement from your neck top to bottom. Mine was 5 inches leave one extra inch. Making it 6 inches. </span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Step 2: hand stitch or using a machine stitch a straight line measuring from your neck to the shoulder mine was 11 inches. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PJlQIEhP0u4/Ti8mHCViavI/AAAAAAAAABk/xd5v0WtVgoo/s1600/neck+stention.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PJlQIEhP0u4/Ti8mHCViavI/AAAAAAAAABk/xd5v0WtVgoo/s640/neck+stention.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w7KRNy_Wk90/Ti8cnOnuH9I/AAAAAAAAABU/-Lc2-tRkslc/s1600/neck+stention.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />

You should have a circular band. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2yf9aLELPw0/Ti8nA4X5HwI/AAAAAAAAABs/IX0GuqBrGHg/s1600/100_3781.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2yf9aLELPw0/Ti8nA4X5HwI/AAAAAAAAABs/IX0GuqBrGHg/s640/100_3781.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #674ea7; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dFsC5kgDuj8/Ti8h3Jf_itI/AAAAAAAAABc/gKL6A3M4mSI/s1600/100_3781.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
